ICC World Cup 2023: The landscape of social media and the absolute need to bring anything new into attention has become so convoluted that it’s almost impossible to draw the line between what’s bold and what overly and unnecessarily ambitious. One perfect example of such dilemmas is the ICC launching the ICC World Cup 2023 from space. Space, where the only cricket played is Black Holes catching new galaxies and devouring them in the name of a solitary wicket.

ICC World Cup 2023:
The most important and long-awaited Cricket tournament is set to take place in India late this year. And if that wasn’t enough to gain popularity and attention in terms of fans, ICC decided to go a bit radical to announce the tournament in a way that can only be described as reaching out of their element.
In a twitter post by Jay Shah on June 26th, the ICC World Cup Trophy was launched from space, more specifically, from the stratosphere.
“An out-of-this-world moment for the cricketing world as the #CWC23 trophy unveiled in space. Marks a milestone of being one of the first official sporting trophies to be sent to space. Indeed a galactic start for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Trophy Tour in India.” – he posted along with a video showing the unveiling.
The Trophy was sent 120 000 feet high, floating above 99.5% of the Earth’s Atmosphere, with a temperature of -65 Degrees Celsius. After which is was landed back at the Narendra Modi Stadium where the Final match of the Tournament will be held on November 19th.
The video went viral and received mixed responses from Cricket fans all over the globe. Some took it as an overly expensive joke and tagged the whole thing down to attention seeking in an overly expensive way. Others took it with the Patriotic angle and felt proud that the whole thing is taking place in India.
The ICC Cricket World Cup is set to start on October 5th with the opening match being played between England and New Zealand. Ten teams competing across 12 venues with the Final to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19th 2023.
