Diamond League Lausanne 2023: Neeraj Chopra, the Tokyo Olympics javelin throw champion, is set to return to competitive action at the upcoming Diamond League Lausanne 2023 in Switzerland. The event will be held on June 30, 2023, at the Stade de la Pontaise in Lausanne.
Chopra will be making his first appearance at the Diamond League since winning the event in Zurich last year. He is currently leading the 2023 Diamond League men’s javelin throw points tally with eight points, having won the Doha leg of the competition with a throw of 88.67 meters.
The Lausanne Diamond League will be Chopra’s first major competition since he suffered a muscle strain in June. He has been training in Patiala since then and is confident of being in good shape for the event.
Chopra will face stiff competition from the likes of reigning world champion Anderson Peters of Grenada, Olympic silver medalist Jakub Vadlejch of the Czech Republic, and Tokyo bronze medalist Julian Weber of Germany. However, Chopra will be hoping to use the event as a springboard for a successful World Athletics Championships campaign later this year.
