TRAGIC: Pakistani snooker player Majid Ali commits suicide!

Majid Ali, a top Pakistani snooker player and Asian Under-21 silver medalist, committed suicide on Thursday in his hometown of Samundri near Faisalabad in Punjab. He was 28.

Majid had been suffering from depression since his playing days and reportedly used a wood-cutting machine to end his life. His brother Umar said that Majid had been struggling with depression since his teenage years and had recently experienced a resurgence of the condition.

Majid’s death is a tragedy for the Pakistani snooker community and for the sport as a whole. He was a talented player with a bright future ahead of him. His death is a reminder that depression is a serious mental illness that can affect anyone, regardless of their age, race, or social status.

In his eulogy, Alamgir Sheikh, the chairman of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker, said:

“Majid was a talented player with a bright future ahead of him. He was a kind and gentle soul, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His death is a great loss to the sport of snooker, and to Pakistan as a whole.”
