Wimbledon 2023 Day 3 saw some big names advance to the third round, while others were sent packing. Defending champion Novak Djokovic cruised to a straight-sets victory over Jordan Thompson, while top-seeded Iga Swiatek also won in straight sets to reach the third round.
However, eighth seed Maria Sakkari was upset by Marta Kostyuk, while two-time champion Andy Murray was taken to five sets by James Duckworth before winning.

- Djokovic vs. Thompson: Djokovic was in dominant form as he beat Thompson 6-3, 7-6(2), 7-5. The Serbian star didn’t face a break point in the match and won 80% of his first-serve points.
- Swiatek vs. Sorribes Tormo: Swiatek continued her impressive form as she beat Sorribes Tormo 6-2, 6-0. The Polish star has now won 36 consecutive matches and is looking to go all the way at Wimbledon.
- Sakkari vs. Kostyuk: Sakkari was the big upset of the day as she was beaten by Kostyuk 6-0, 5-7, 2-6. The Greek was one of the favorites to win the title, but she struggled with her serve and made too many errors.
- Murray vs. Duckworth: Murray was taken to five sets by Duckworth, but he eventually prevailed 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. The British star is now in the third round of Wimbledon for the first time since 2017.

Overall, it was a day of mixed results for the top seeds at Wimbledon. Djokovic and Swiatek continued their good form, but Sakkari and Murray were both upset. The tournament is still wide open, and there are plenty of exciting matches to come in the third round.
