India vs West Indies, 1st Test, Day 2: Sharma & Jaiswal score hundreds, India in control.

India vs West Indies: India took complete control of the first Test against West Indies on Day 2, thanks to a brilliant century from debutant Yashasvi Jaiswal. Jaiswal scored 143 not out, his maiden Test hundred, as India reached 312/2 at stumps on Friday.

Jaiswal was in fine form from the start, and he put on a record-breaking opening partnership of 229 with Rohit Sharma. Sharma scored 103 before he was dismissed, but Jaiswal continued to bat with authority, and he brought up his hundred with a six off Kemar Roach.

Virat Kohli was also in good touch, scoring 36 not out at the close of play. India now have a lead of 162 runs, and they will be looking to extend that lead on Day 3.

Jaiswal’s hundred was a special innings, and it was a fitting way for him to mark his Test debut. He showed great maturity and composure, and he dealt with the West Indies bowlers with ease. He was particularly good against the short ball, and he pulled and hooked with great power.

Roach was the pick of the West Indies bowlers, taking 1/77. However, the rest of the bowlers struggled, and they were unable to build any pressure on the Indian batsmen.

India will be confident of winning this Test, and they will be looking to build on their lead on Day 3. West Indies need to find a way to get the Indian batsmen out, or they will be in for a long day on Saturday.
