IND vs WI 2nd Test: Match abandoned in Trinidad due to rain, India win series 1-0

IND vs WI 2nd Test: The second Test between India and West Indies in Port of Spain was abandoned on Monday due to rain, with India winning the series 1-0.

India had set West Indies a target of 365 to win the match, but no play was possible on the final day due to persistent rain. India had earlier declared their second innings at 181 for 2, with Cheteshwar Pujara scoring 91 and Rishabh Pant 50.

The West Indies were 76 for 2 at the end of the fourth day, with Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Jermaine Blackwood unbeaten on 24 and 20 respectively. The rain started to fall on the morning of the fifth day and continued throughout the day, preventing any play from taking place.

The umpires eventually abandoned the match at 5:30pm local time, with India winning the series 1-0. It was India’s first Test series win in the West Indies since 2011.

Player of the Match: Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj was named the player of the match for his impressive bowling performance. Siraj took 7 wickets in the match, including 3 in the first innings and 4 in the second. He was also economical, conceding just 2.25 runs per over.

What next?

India will now travel to England for a five-Test series, starting on August 1. The West Indies will host Bangladesh for a two-Test series, starting on July 28.
