IND vs WI 1st ODI: India cruised to a 5-wicket win over the West Indies in the first ODI of the three-match series in Barbados on Thursday.

Opting to field first, India’s spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja ran riot, picking up seven wickets between them to restrict the West Indies to 114 in just 23 overs.

The left-arm duo took seven wickets for 26 runs in 44 balls as West Indies were bundled out for just 114. Kuldeep was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 for 6 in his three overs, while Jadeja picked up 3 for 37.

The West Indies batsmen struggled to cope with the turn and bounce offered by the pitch, and they were especially vulnerable to Kuldeep’s googly. Shai Hope was the only batsman to offer any resistance, scoring 43 off 45 balls, but he was eventually dismissed by Jadeja.

In reply, India lost two quick wickets but Ishan Kishan’s half-century (52 off 46) helped them chase down the target with ease in 22.5 overs.

Kuldeep was the pick of the bowlers for India, taking 4 for 6 in his 6 overs. Jadeja chipped in with 3 for 37.

Here are the key takeaways from the match:

  • India’s spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja were once again in top form, picking up seven wickets between them.
  • Ishan Kishan’s half-century was the difference in the end, as India chased down the target with ease.
  • The West Indies batting line-up once again looked brittle, and they will need to improve if they want to challenge India in the remaining two matches of the series.

The performance of the Indian spinners was a major factor in their victory. Kuldeep and Jadeja have been in excellent form in recent months, and they are a major threat to any batting lineup. If they can continue their form, they will be a key weapon for India in the upcoming ODI series.

What’s next?

The second ODI of the series will be played in Trinidad on Sunday. India will be looking to continue their winning momentum, while the West Indies will be hoping to bounce back.
