PAK vs SL: Pakistan Consolidate Top Spot in WTC Standings After 2-0 Series Win Over Sri Lanka

PAK vs SL: Pakistan have consolidated their top spot in the World Test Championship standings after a 2-0 series sweep over Sri Lanka. The Men in Green won the second Test by an innings and 222 runs in Colombo on Thursday, to complete a dominant victory.

Pakistan’s performance in the series was spearheaded by opener Abdullah Shafique, who scored 303 runs in the two Tests, including a career-best 201 in the second innings of the second Test. Shafique was named Player of the Series for his efforts.

Other key contributors for Pakistan included skipper Babar Azam (200 runs), Azhar Ali (160 runs), and Hasan Ali (10 wickets).

The win over Sri Lanka has helped Pakistan to move to 24 points in the WTC standings, with a 100% win percentage. India are second in the standings with 16 points, followed by Australia (26 points), England (14 points), and West Indies (4 points).

Pakistan’s next Test assignment is a three-match series against Australia in February-March 2023. The series will be a crucial one for Pakistan, as they look to maintain their top spot in the WTC standings.

India’s Chances of Qualifying for WTC Final

India’s chances of qualifying for the WTC final are still alive, but they will need to win their upcoming series against South Africa and Australia. India currently have 16 points in the WTC standings, and they will need to win at least four of their remaining six Tests to qualify for the final.

South Africa are currently third in the WTC standings with 26 points, and Australia are fourth with 14 points. India will need to beat both South Africa and Australia to have a good chance of qualifying for the final.
