Cheteshwar Pujara scored an unbeaten 117 off 113 balls as Sussex Sharks chased down 319 with 11 balls to spare to beat Somerset at the Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton.
The Indian run machine hit 12 fours and a six in his 13th List A century, anchoring the Sussex innings after they had lost three wickets for 48.
Tom Alsop (60) and Oli Carter (44) provided support to Pujara, but it was the Indian who was the star of the show, playing some classy shots all around the ground.
Somerset had earlier posted a competitive 318 for 6 after winning the toss, with Andy Umeed (119) and Curtis Campher (101) both scoring maiden centuries.
Fynn Hudson-Prentice took 3 for 50 for Sussex, but it was Pujara who stole the show with his brilliant batting display.
The win was Sussex’s first in the One-Day Cup this season, and it moved them up to third in Group B.
Pujara was named man of the match for his innings, and he said he was happy to be able to help Sussex get their first win of the tournament.

“It was a good performance from the team,” he said. “We were a bit slow in the beginning, but we picked up the pace in the middle overs. I am happy to have contributed with the bat, and it is always good to get a win.”
Sussex captain Tom Haines was also pleased with the result, saying it was a “good team performance”.
“We were a bit disappointed with the start, but we came back really well,” he said. “Pujara was outstanding, and it was a great knock from him. It was a good all-round performance from the team.”
The win puts Sussex in a good position to qualify for the knockout stages of the One-Day Cup, and they will be looking to build on this performance in their next match against Hampshire on Wednesday.
