Lord of the Rings Online: In a recent interview with Game Rant, Lord of the Rings Online executive producer Robert Ciccolini discussed some of the features and systems that the development team is planning to revisit in the future.

One of the areas that Ciccolini mentioned is the war steed system. He noted that the handling of war steeds could be improved, and that the distinction between war steeds and regular horses is perhaps too great. The team is also looking at ways to make war steeds more enjoyable to use.

Another area that is up for review is the crafting system. Ciccolini acknowledged that crafting has gradually fallen by the wayside for endgame gearing, as there are generally much better options available to players from group content. The team is planning to revamp the crafting system in the Umbar expansion to make it more accessible and useful at all levels of play. Professions will no longer be tied to vocation choices, and players will be able to fill at least some of their end-game slots with competitive player-made gear if they choose.

In addition to these specific features, Ciccolini also said that the team is always looking for ways to improve the overall gameplay experience. This includes things like making the game more welcoming to new players, streamlining certain systems, and adding new content that is both challenging and rewarding for both experienced and novice players alike.

Overall, it’s clear that the Lord of the Rings Online development team is committed to making the game as good as it can be. The revamps to the war steed and crafting systems are just two examples of the many ways that the team is working to improve the game for its players.

Here are some additional thoughts on the features that Ciccolini mentioned:

  • War steed system: Improved handling and less distinction between war steeds and regular horses would make war steeds more enjoyable to use. This would be especially beneficial for players who like to use their war steeds for exploration and transportation, as well as for combat.
  • Crafting system: Making crafting more accessible and useful at all levels of play is a great idea. This would encourage more players to try crafting, and it would also make it a more viable option for endgame gearing.
  • New player experience: Making the game more welcoming to new players is important for attracting and retaining new players. This could involve things like streamlining the early game experience, providing more guidance and tutorials, and creating more content that is specifically designed for new players.
  • System streamlining: Streamlining certain systems can make the game more user-friendly and less time-consuming to play. This could involve things like reducing the number of different currencies and resources in the game, simplifying the crafting system, and making it easier to find and complete quests.
  • New content: Adding new content that is both challenging and rewarding for both experienced and novice players alike is essential for keeping players engaged. This could involve things like new dungeons and raids, new quests and storylines, and new regions to explore.

Overall, I am excited to see the changes that the Lord of the Rings Online development team is making to the game. I believe that these changes will make the game more enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their experience level.
