Harmanpreet Kaur Punished For Controversial Antics Vs Bangladesh

Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur was fined 75% of her match fees for her controversial antics during and after the third ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka on Saturday.

Kaur was given out leg-before wicket off the bowling of Nahida Akter in the 34th over of India’s 226-run chase. She was unhappy with the decision and hit the stumps with her bat in anger before walking off the field.

After the match, Kaur was also critical of the umpiring in the post-match presentation. She said that the umpiring was “pathetic” and that the umpires should have joined the team photo after the match.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) investigated the matter and decided to fine Kaur 75% of her match fees. She was also given three demerit points, which means that she will be suspended for one match if she accumulates four demerit points in a 24-month period.

Kaur accepted the ICC’s decision and apologized for her behavior. She said that she was “deeply sorry” for her actions and that she would “learn from this experience.”

The ICC’s decision was met with mixed reactions. Some people felt that the fine was too lenient, while others felt that it was fair. However, most people agreed that Kaur’s behavior was unacceptable and that she deserved to be punished.

This is not the first time that Kaur has been involved in controversy. In 2017, she was fined 50% of her match fees for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision. She was also banned for one match for the same offense in 2018.

In addition to the reactions mentioned above, here are some other people who have commented on Kaur’s behavior:

  • Virender Sehwag: The former India batsman said that Kaur’s actions were “unbecoming of a captain” and that she should have “set a better example.”
  • Sachin Tendulkar: The legendary batsman said that he was “disappointed” in Kaur’s behavior and that she should “show more maturity.”
  • Sourav Ganguly: The former India captain said that Kaur’s actions were “unacceptable” and that she should “apologise to the Bangladesh team.”

Kaur is a talented cricketer and one of the most important players in the Indian women’s team. However, she needs to learn to control her emotions and behave in a more professional manner. If she does not, she could face further punishments from the ICC.
